Guardianship Law in Harrisonburg, VA
When a loved one is no longer competent to make their own decisions and they do not have legal documents in place, it may be necessary to file a petition with the circuit court seeking appointment as their guardian and/or conservator. A court-appointed guardian has the legal authority to make health care decisions, including where the incapacitated person will live or be cared for. A court-appointed conservator has the legal authority to manage the incapacitated personal financial assets.
At Leitner Law Group, PLC we represent family members in establishing guardianships and conservatorships of loved ones. Our attorneys can serve as guardian or conservator for persons with dementia or other conditions that make them unable to handle their own finances or make their own decisions.
